Jewish Wedding Traditions
-
A ketubah is a Jewish marriage contract that outlines the rights and responsibilities of the groom and bride.
-
Chuppah: A Jewish wedding takes place under a chuppah, which is a structure made of 4 wooden poles connected by traditional cloth. It symbolizes the new Jewish home being created by the marriage.
7 Blessings: The seven blessings are the heart of the Jewish wedding ceremony. Seven different blessings are bestowed upon the couple. They may be given by the rabbi, cantor, or friends and family members.
Breaking of Glass: At the end of the ceremony the Bride and Groom will step on a piece of glass wrapped in cloth. Shattered glass symbolizes the fragility of relationships and reminds us that we must treat our relationship with special care.

What is the Hora?
The Hora is a traditional Jewish dance usually performed during large celebrations, like weddings or bar/bat-mitzvahs. It is a group dance, and all guests are welcome to join. How is it done?
